Mêlée of Discovery
Mêlée of Discovery explores black-and-white thinking and the inner opposites that come with it, such as attraction and rejection, or holding on and letting go. The works show how these extremes can collide, and how new insight can emerge within that tension.
Mêlée describes a chaotic confrontation in which different forces move through one another. The title suggests that discovery does not always come through calm or clarity; sometimes it begins in conflict, confusion, and the space between opposing sides.

Each frame moves in alternating bands of black and white, almost like a wave or a strand of binary code. From the outermost layer inward, the wood shifts tone from one frame to the next, continuing through the passe-partout and into the color of the paper itself. The sequence creates a visual rhythm of opposition and reversal, as if each work carries the same structure in a different phase. In that way, the frames echo Mêlée of Discovery: a field in which contrasts keep changing places, and meaning emerges through their movement.
